๐ Why We Use Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and local storage to support key features and ensure fairness across both Pseudonymous Voters and Authenticated Casters.
๐ฅธ Anonymous Identity and Survey Integrity
- We issue an anonymous UUID-based identifier (
X-Anonymous-ID
) wrapped in a JWT (HMAC-SHA512) and store it in local storage. This helps us recognize unauthenticated users (Netizens) while preserving privacy. - Each ID is rate-limited by IP and can only be generated once per week to prevent abuse and manipulation. If deleted, a new one cannot be created until the cooldown resets.
- This ID helps maintain survey fairness without linking to any personally identifiable information.
๐ Private Surveys and Authenticated Sessions
- A short-lived JWT (1 hour) is issued to Netizens who enter a 6-digit password to access private surveys.
- Casters (survey creators) receive a separate JWT stored in cookies or local storage to maintain login state.
๐งณ Session Support
- Session cookies keep your account authenticated while navigating Kuqus. These are only used for logged-in users or when accessing private surveys.
๐ Analytics and Insights
- We collect minimal analytics to improve service quality and ensure fair usage.
- Aggregated country-level data may be shown to survey creators โ no personal tracking involved.
๐ Advertising
- We use Google AdSense to show ads. Personalized ads require your explicit consent via our banner.
- If you decline, youโll still see ads โ just less relevant ones โ and we earn less (but thatโs your call).
We use these tools thoughtfully to deliver a smooth experience, protect against abuse, and keep Kuqus accessible for everyone.
